“New Callaway Golf FT-IQ Driver” Callaway Golf has introduced the new FT-IQ driver that uses space age technology. This square driver looks different, sounds different, feels different, and really is easier to hit. It uses carbon composite technology to create a very low center of gravity and that allows almost any hit anywhere on the club face to get airborne. A titanium face thicker in the middle to reduce backspin and a lower spin for most swing speeds will produce a longer drive The MSRP is $499. Time on the range time confirms it forgiveness. Contact anywhere on the club face results in the ball getting airborne. It has a large, forgiving sweet spot. The FT-IQ technology increases club head stability at impact on off-center hits. You will need to get used to the radically different appearance at set up versus a conventionally shaped driver club head. If you have been playing an FT-I, Nike Sumo, or a similar square driver, then it will not be a major transition. Set up image is an important factor, especially for lower handicap golfers. Sound is another important factor in golf. Callaway drivers have had a different sound. Kind of hollow sounding is the most frequently heard comment. The new FT-IQ sounds more solid and should be more appealing to most golfers. Most golfers will subconsciously grade how solid the club feels based on the feedback they get from hearing the impact. Long and straight off the tee, even on off-center hits, seems to succinctly summarize the FT-IQ. In our opinion, it's a winner that should gain tour acceptance quickly.
