Blogging for MLM Success Part 1 of 3 – Why and How Does a Blog Actually Work

By: Brenda Gagne

To blog or not to blog, is that the question? If your goal is to have substantial amount of traffic to your business website, you are going to need a centralized website. Your blog is sometimes referred to as your Nerve Center because this is the hub where everything is supported. Most business owners choose to create a blog for this purpose, and in having doing so, have generated immense MLM success.

Yet, can blogging get you MLM Success and if so how? When I began marketing online, this was one of my biggest questions. I wasn't sure what blogging was, and I really didn't understand why anyone else would want to read my blog. After being online for awhile, I realized I wasn't alone in this thinking. I think this perception came about because when blogging first became popular, blogs were used mostly for personal use. They were a nice way for family and friends to keep up with each other, as well as a good outlet for people to "let off steam" in their writing. Yet the blogging world has evolved, and business owners, in particular those in the MLM industry, soon jumped onto this new trend and found it very successful.

Blogging is an excellent way to brand yourself online, and isn't that the overall goal when marketing online? Think about when you first encounter someone on the web through social media, or any other website they may have. You don't know anything about them in the beginning. However if this person peaked your interest in their article, or in your online conversation, you are going to want to acquire more about who they are and what they do.

Because of technology these days, if a person wanted to know more about you, they most likely won't pick up the phone and call. They will search for you online. Facebook will usually be the first social site they will look first. Facebook is a great site where people will learn an overview about you both socially and professionally. A good Facebook profile will include a link for someone to understand more about you. This link should take them to your nerve center - a.k.a Blog. Now if someone isn't on Facebook, then they will elect to search for your name on Google or another search engine. The first thing that should pop up when someone searches your name should be your blog (if you have it optimized well).

It's significant to understand the concept of what a blog is actually used for before ever setting one up. The look of your blog is important. It should look clean and professional, yet very inviting. You want to convey the appearance that you are a leader in your industry, yet you are approachable. One of the most important areas to include in your blog is an opt-in box. This is an area where visitors can put in their contact information, in exchange for some value they are searching for. The purpose of the opt-in is two fold. First it gives you a lead who is interested in what you have, and a way to follow back up with them. Secondly, the value you give to your prospect can help build a little bit of trust with them since you were willing to give away beneficial information.

Having your blog created in this manner can help you create leads, and build a successful MLM or any other type of business. Someplace on your blog you will have links to your primary business(es). People can learn more about what you do, and become interested in your business well before you ever have any exchange with them. This is the power of a properly built blog. By having a successful blog, you are introduced to interested, pre-qualified leads. This builds speed for which you can develop your business.
