Choose the tattoo that fits you

By: Ingrid Sure

You woke up one morning and said: “I want a tattoo, but will it hurt?”. So, how does it feel like when you get a tattoo? Well, it is painful! And leaving money aside, pain in tattooing is part of the investment. After all, it is an art. Art needs emotions, which will undoubtedly cover most of the pain, to bring out the best from an art piece.

Pain is something to bear with, because the process will get more and more painful, depending on the design of your tattoo. Nevertheless, the more decorative or the more symbolic your tattoo design is, the more artistic it will get!

Think of Tattoo as a mean of self-expression. After all, it is and has been used among wide scopes of culture and its history runs down from ages to ages. As the “ages” went by, the tattoo designs became more elaborate. In the last century, they developed more like living artworks rather than simple accentuations embedded on human skin. Nowadays, you are getting them from Tattoo Artists.

Literally, there are thousands, hundreds of thousands... a myriad, actually, of tattoo designs that often leave customers overwhelmed. But let me help you in finding the perfect one for you. First, let's take a look on some of most popular designs, these days, so you and others, planning to get tattooed, would have more defined ideas of what design to punch into the skin. Please note that this isn't easy and the process is equally not handy, so focus on what you truly desire and work on it until the last point of the needle!

One must never forget that the looks aren't the only that matter in tattoo art. Because it is for self-expression, people often find themselves content with adding specific religious symbols, for example, that make their faith more pronounced. No wonder, the extreme prevalence of angel tattoos, cross tattoos and other religious tokens can be seen throughout many regions.

But then again, let's not forget patriotism. The eagle, the flag, the white star tattoos... we have to admit that's stereotypical. How many times have we seen these designs that depict the Great America? I think we've already lost count. Americans seem to have this special commitment towards the country that they are even willing to leave marks of its symbols into their skin. You may choose to follow their practice but you may also not. That really depends on our preference.

However, if you want to be unique, you can try looking for seldom used designs, rather than the American eagle (or any other eagle of that sort). The only key here is to ask yourself what really matters to you. And always ask yourself if “I love X” will mean the same thing after some years Think. Maybe a simple or complicated Blackheart Tattoo design would be better. It all starts with an idea!. Art certainly did.

Consider art as a tangible product (which most of times proves to be so) of a mental image of something. And tattoo, being a practiced art, needs to have a constant supply of ideas. As we have earlier noted, there are endless arrays of tattoos and each one has a “soul” of its own. The key is to identify one's self to the attributes that a single design posses.
