LANGKAWI BEACH RUN 2008

COMMEMORATING the GOLDEN JUBILEE of HR the SULTAN OF KEDAH 50 YEARS and Visit Kedah Year 2008

Langkawi Beach run is in its second year, this year will be an even bigger event!!! The route is over 21km and takes the runners across white sandy beaches, alongside beautiful scenery including the emerald green paddy fields. The event has been organised by LG Symphony Sdn Bhd and supported by Tourism Langkawi, Telekom Malaysia(TM),Majlis Sukan Negeri Kedah (MSNK), Persatuan Olahraga Negeri Kedah (POAK), Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan (MPLBP), Underwaterworld Langkawi and Ocean Jupiter Tours & Rental Sdn Bhd.

RM30,000.00 in cash prizes, goodies and a lucky draw, can be won during Langkawi Beach Run 2008. At this year’s event, we will have a souvenir booth and other co-operating companies will be selling their own products. Mr. Ilias Ismail, the event organiser, would like to point out that this event is mainly to promote Langkawi as a sports destination. It is a unique opportunity for all sports men and women from all over the world, to visit Langkawi, Kedah. The Langkawi Beach Run 2008 will achieve targets as additional categories have been created in order to ensure all ages participate and run together on this idyllic Island. Langkawi is a well known destination worldwide and is famous for its Geopark status. It is an island full of beauty, being blessed with not only the rainforest, but also the mangrove forest. It is lush with wildlife and this is a fantastic opportunity to visit the island. Langkawi is one of most famous islands within Malaysia. It is rich in traditions and culture.

We are confident that the Langkawi Beach Run 2008 will attract a good proportion of foreign runners, as our new International categories for men & women and veteran categories have been included for the first time. This ensures all parties take part. We have still included the Malaysia, Junior and Children’s open.

All runners who register early will receive a mystery gift, this will be on a first come, first serve basis, and only for a limited period. An online entry form can also be obtained through the website. During the event all runners will receive an aerobic exercise warm up session before the start of the race. The event will be a staggered start, depending on category, International Open will be the first to run, followed by the Malaysian Open, Veteran Open, Junior Open, Children’s Open and finally the VIP invitations. Information on the categories can be found on the website. There will be cash prizes, trophies, medal and certificates for the 1st,2nd,and 3rd places. All runners who complete the race, within the time limit given by the organiser, will be entitled to receive a certificate.
