Never Lose Your Keys Again: Nine Secrets To A Clutter-Free Handbag
Have you ever reached in your handbag for your keys and pulled out your lipstick instead? Or maybe you had to dump the contents of your bag on the bathroom floor just to find a pen . If this sounds like you, here are some simple steps to make your hand bag more organized.
1. Carry a handbag with designated compartments. Most of today’s purses and tote bags come with compartments for items like cell phones, pens, change, and wallets. Make a habit of putting your stuff in the appropriate area so you can access it easily.
2. Categorize your wallet. Try arranging your credit cards in your wallet in alphabetical order. Unfold paper money and group it by denomination. For example, put all the one dollar bills together, followed by the five dollar bills.
3. Keep a small change purse to avoid having loose coins settle in the bottom of your bag. This practice also makes it easier to find a quarter next time you are at a parking meter.
4. Buy a business card case. Place all of your business cards in a case so they are easy to find at your next networking event or meeting.
5. Keep a small envelope in your handbag for receipts. Grocery, car repair and other receipts tend to accumulate in your purse. Designate an envelope to file these items in until you get home.
6. Try to carry only essentials in your bag. Get rid of extraneous items like, old brochures, old packs of gum, and business cards you never intend to use. Focus on using your handbag for things like your keys, pens, cosmetic items like lipstick, your phone, your wallet, and maybe some tissues.
7. Carry a smaller purse. The smaller the bag the less tempted you will be to fill it with unnecessary items.
8. Clean your handbag of extraneous items every night. Make a practice of emptying your handbag every night to remove those things that are no longer essential or that need to be filed elsewhere. For example, take the receipts you have been keeping in your purse, and put them in a file drawer.
9. Repair broken clasps and tears in the handbag. The easiest way to lose something in your purse is to have it fall out because of a broken clasp or tears in the interior or exterior of the bag. Repair these problems immediately or discard the bag.
