OCD on Oprah: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is “Learned Behavior”

Oprah recently featured Dr. Oz talking about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, and following several people to “OCD Camp” where they are forced to face their fears head-on – learning to overcome them in the process. Dr. Oz says that OCD is a condition that takes people out of the moment – stealing their quality of life; he also says that OCD expresses itself through learned behaviors.

About 10-million Americans suffer with OCD; and Dr. Jonathan Grayson says he has a very effective solution with “OCD Boot Camp,” and their “exposure and response prevention” methodology. Dr. Oz followed 6-people with conditions such as, fear of germs, fear of garbage, fear that food is poisoned or contaminated, and so on; campers endure a 72-hour program where they face escalating challenges to their obsessive behaviors. After three intense days, participants have a new lease on life.

But what if you don’t live near an “OCD Boot Camp,” or can’t afford the program? The good news is that OCD manifests through learned behaviors; and there are now easy methods to change the way our brain and nervous systems process thoughts and beliefs – helping us quickly and easily overcome the anxiety and negative feelings and effects of OCD. Some of those methods, such as the Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT, are essentially free to learn and use. You can simply download a Free EFT manual and begin using this technique to simply remove the fears causing the obsessive thinking and behavior.

If you can go to a boot camp to overcome your fears, worries, and anxiety, then do it; it will be a great experience for you. But, if you can’t, don’t simply continue suffering with OCD; you can learn to help yourself with EFT, and other techniques such as the Z-Point Process, TAT, and Psychological Kinesiology – techniques being applied more and more frequently by psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, and other clinical practitioners, with stunning success rates. But, you can learn and use the same techniques, with very similar success rates, if you simply do a little research and download a couple free manuals – and then USE the techniques.

There are many ways to overcome most problems you will face in life; don’t simply give up when you can’t immediately find an answer – or when the answer seems out of reach somehow. Keep looking and you will eventually find exactly what you need.
