It is easy to over-wet the carpet and then not be able to extract the solution before the carpet backing and pad get soaked. Allow plenty of time for the carpet to dry because you will need it.

The carpet cleaning machines that you can rent from your grocery store provide a little bit more power for extracting the water from your carpet. A common complaint about the rented machine is that the previous user failed to clean it adequately before returning. These can also be cumbersome and, by the time you are finished and load the machine back into your vehicle, you’ll wonder why you didn’t just call somebody to do the job for you.

Hiring a professional carpet cleaner is the best choice. Many professional carpet cleaners use a method of hot water extraction where the cleaning solution is heated and applied to the carpet with pressure, then extracted with powerful motors to suction the water away. The pressure is sometimes so great that water is forced into the carpet pad where it remains, leaving behind a soapy residue that can be a potential breeding ground for mold.
