Over the past few years, there has been a steady increase in the usage of stair climbers. They have proven to be quite useful for aerobic conditioning. They raise the heart rate which is great for building up endurance. These machines were made for those who normally don?t climb any stairs and to promote more cardiovascular activity for the individual. There plenty of models and the prices of these machines have a great range. When using a stair climber, it always important to stand properly. Bad posture on this machine can lead to neck strains, leg cramps, and back strains. Creating unneeded stress on your muscles and limbs can create lasting negative effects. If any injuries occur, it?s best to stop using the machine. If these machines are used improperly, you can do a great amount of damage to your calf muscles and ankles. You can also cause your heart rate to dangerously speed up. Remember to stand straight up whenever you climb the stairs and wear running shoes that have thick soles. Remember to gradually build yourself up when you exercise. Start off with a slow pace and gradually build up your speed as time progresses. If you are using an electric stair climber, turn it to the slowest setting and slowly increase your speed every week. If you go too fast, you could injure yourself and cause your heart to beat rapidly. Remember to drink plenty of water and spend a great amount of stretching before using the machine. To begin, make sure you grab the handrails for balance as you step on the stairs. Next, turn the machine on and set it at it?s slowest pace (this is for beginners). Now, start moving by keeping your back street and motioning like you are climbing stairs. You should be very comfortable. Hunching your back can cause injuries and you will lose the effectiveness of this exercise. Also, be very careful using the handrails. Never put too much weight on them because you won?t burn as many calories and you won?t get the workout you?re looking for. Keep your movements smooth and don?t take short steps. Use your whole foot when you step down. If you only use the balls of your feet, that can create foot numbness. These may seem like a lot of instructions to follow, but they are really basic common sense. If these directions are followed, then you will definitely reap the benefits of what a stair climber has to offer.
